What it is
ISO 30415:2021 gives organisations guidance on diversity and inclusion (D&I) in the workplace; UNI, the Italian standards body, has adopted it as UNI ISO 30415:2021. It sets out the fundamental prerequisites for D&I and the accountabilities and responsibilities of the governing body, leaders, those with designated D&I responsibilities and individuals. It then gives recommended actions, suggested measures and potential outcomes for a D&I framework, for an inclusive culture, for each stage of the human resource management life cycle — workforce planning, remuneration, recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, performance management, succession planning, workforce mobility and cessation of employment — for the design and delivery of products and services, for procurement and supply-chain relationships, and for relationships with external stakeholders. It applies to organisations of any size, type and sector, public or private.
Who needs it
Companies, public bodies and non-profit organisations of any size that want independent evidence of how they embed diversity and inclusion in their governance, HR processes, products and services and supply chain — for example for ESG and sustainability reporting, for supplier qualification by international customers, or alongside a UNI/PdR 125:2022 gender-equality programme.
Audit process
ISO 30415 is a guidance document: it recommends rather than requires, and it notes that it can support independent, external validation of an organisation's approach to D&I. CAS audits the organisation against assessment criteria drawn from the document's fundamental prerequisites (Clause 4), accountabilities and responsibilities (Clause 5) and recommended actions, suggested measures and potential outcomes (Clauses 6 to 11), with its Annex A self-assessment checklist as the starting point. Certification follows a two-stage initial audit (Stage 1 and Stage 2) under ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015, with annual surveillance audits and recertification every three years. The certificate is issued By CAS, outside CAS's EGAC accreditation, and can be verified on CAS CertSearch.
Frequently asked questions
Common questions
Is UNI ISO 30415 certification by CAS accredited?
No. CAS issues UNI ISO 30415 certificates By CAS, under its own authority and outside its EGAC accreditation, which covers ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 22000, 50001 and 22301 only. The certificate carries the CAS mark, not the EGAC or IAF marks, and can be verified on CAS CertSearch.
ISO 30415 gives guidance, not requirements. What does the certificate attest?
That CAS audited the organisation's diversity and inclusion approach, within the scope stated on the certificate, against assessment criteria taken from the document's recommended actions, measures and outcomes, and found it conforming. It does not turn the document's recommendations into legal obligations, and it does not cover labour-union relations or country-specific legal compliance, which the document itself leaves out of its scope.
How does UNI ISO 30415 relate to UNI/PdR 125:2022?
UNI/PdR 125:2022 is the Italian reference practice for gender equality management systems, assessed through weighted KPIs, and it draws on UNI ISO 30415:2021. ISO 30415 is wider: it covers diversity and inclusion in all its dimensions, not gender alone. The two can be audited together.
