From request to certificate

How your request moves through to a certificate, under ISO/IEC 17021-1.

  1. 1

    You submit this request

Choose your standard(s) from our full catalogue — ISO management systems, food safety, Halal, Kosher, GMP, social/ethical and market-access schemes — describe your scope and size, list your products for Halal/Kosher, and attach your legal documents (e.g. commercial register and tax card). It takes a few minutes and there's no obligation.

  2. 2

We review & prepare a proposal

    usually ≤ 2 business days

Our certification team reviews your request, confirms the scope and applicable scheme(s), and prepares a costed scheme of work (proposal) based on the accredited audit-time rules.

  3. 3

    You accept the proposal

Once you accept, we issue the agreement and invoice, and plan the audit. The conditions that will apply are published in our Conditions of Certification.

  4. 4

    Stage 1 & Stage 2 audit

Competent, impartial auditors carry out a two-stage initial audit under ISO/IEC 17021-1. Stage 1 checks readiness; Stage 2 evaluates implementation and effectiveness.

  5. 5

    Independent certification decision

A decision-maker who was not part of the audit team reviews the audit file and makes the certification decision — keeping the grant of certification impartial.

  6. 6

    Certificate issued & maintained

We issue your certificate and certification mark, then maintain certification through annual surveillance and three-yearly recertification.

Common questions

Does submitting this cost anything?+
No. Requesting a proposal is free and places you under no obligation. You only proceed once you accept our costed scheme of work.
Which standards can I request?+
The form lists our full catalogue of 41 schemes, grouped into eight sections: ISO management systems (accredited and CAS-issued), food safety & agriculture (FSSC 22000, BRCGS, GLOBALG.A.P., HACCP and more), Halal and Kosher, GMP/cosmetics/pharma (GMP, GDP, GSP, ISO 22716), social, ethical & gender (SA8000, SMETA/Sedex, WRAP, SLCP, PDR 125) and market-access & sector schemes — and you can type any other standard in the “Other” field. CAS certifies most international standards directly or through its partner network.
How is the price worked out?+
Certification audit time is calculated from the number of employees and sites within your scope, following the accredited audit-time rules for each scheme, plus any scheme-specific factors. We confirm the exact figure in your proposal.
Can you certify several standards together?+
Yes. Where your management systems overlap (for example ISO 9001 + ISO 14001 + ISO 45001), we plan an integrated audit, which reduces total audit time. Mention this in the message field.
What documents do I need to attach?+
Please upload at least one legal document for your organisation — typically your commercial register and tax card, plus any operating licences relevant to your scope. You can attach several files (PDF, Word, Excel or images). For Halal or Kosher certification, also choose the scheme type(s) and list the specific products to be certified.
What happens to my information?+
Your request and uploaded documents are handled confidentially under our Confidentiality & Information Security policy and used only to prepare your proposal and, if you proceed, manage your certification.
May we offer anything to the audit team?+
No gifts, of any value, at any time — CAS prohibits them absolutely. The only things a client may provide are hospitality, transport and accommodation that are reasonable and necessary for conducting the audit: a working lunch in the canteen, a car to a site with no practical alternative, a standard room for the audit nights. Anything beyond that is prohibited. Every legitimate fee is invoiced by CAS in writing — never in cash and never to an individual — so if anyone asks you for a payment or a personal benefit, report it to us. The full rules, and what happens if the line is crossed, are in our Gifts, Hospitality & Anti-Bribery policy.
I already hold a certificate — can I transfer, recertify or add a standard?+
Yes. For transfers and recertifications, pick “Current CAS client” at the top of the form and give a certificate number — likewise for adding a standard to an existing certificate (expansion). We'll arrange the transfer or recertification review in line with the accredited rules so your cycle continues smoothly.
