Granting Certification

Certification is granted after a successful initial audit demonstrates that the organization fully complies with the applicable standards. This involves a thorough review of the audit report and verification of all compliance measures and corrective actions, if any.

Refusing Certification

If significant nonconformities are identified and remain unresolved, or if the organization fails to meet the fundamental requirements of the standard, certification is refused. All reasons for refusal are clearly documented and communicated to the applicant organization.

Maintaining Certification

Certification maintenance is achieved through regular surveillance audits that ensure continuous adherence to the standard. These audits are planned and executed at intervals defined by the certification scheme, focusing on the ongoing effectiveness of the management system.

Renewing Certification

Upon expiration of the current certification, a renewal process is undertaken, which may involve a full reassessment or a scaled audit, depending on the standard and previous audit findings. This process ensures that the certified management system remains relevant and effective.

Suspending or Withdrawing Certification

Certification can be suspended if there are breaches in compliance, significant quality failures, or misuse of the certification mark. If the issues leading to suspension are not resolved within the agreed timeframe, certification may be withdrawn. All procedural steps and decisions are documented and communicated to the affected organization.

Restoring Certification

Restoration occurs after a suspension when the organization rectifies all nonconformities and meets the necessary conditions to regain compliance. Typically, this involves a follow-up audit and review of the corrective actions implemented.

Expanding or Reducing the Scope of Certification

Organizations can request changes to the scope of their certification in response to modifications in their operations or business scope. This process may require additional audits or assessments to ensure that new areas of operation comply with the standard.
